Sustainability

Responsible from mine to mill — powering our operations from our own solar field arrays, on a path to net zero by 2030.

Sustainability starts at the mine — not at the press office.

For a vertically integrated company, sustainability cannot be limited to one stage of the value chain. At KONREF, the environmental and social footprint runs from how we extract magnesite from our reserves in Konya, through energy consumption on the rotary kiln, to packaging, shipment and the eventual end-of-life of our refractory linings in customer plants.

A growing share of our electricity is generated by our own solar field arrays, and our investment in renewable energy is expanding — part of a deliberate move into the energy sector. Our goal is to reach net zero on our energy impact, and generate beyond our own consumption, by 2030 — to help preserve this country for the generations that follow.
